Our Chapter

Welcome to the website of the Hannah Goddard Chapter, NSDAR. Our chapter was organized on May 14, 1896.

We are a group of women who vary in ages from eighteen to ninety-plus.

Our History

Hannah Goddard was the wife of the American Revolutionary War Patriot John Goddard of Brookline, Massachusetts.

On August 9, 1775, John Goddard was appointed Wagon Master General by the Commander-in-Chief, George Washington, while he was headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

In this capacity, John Goddard was responsible for 300 wagon teams during the Battle of Bunker and the brilliant overnight fortification of Dorchester Heights that forced the British to evacuate Boston on March 17, 1776.
